SHERIFF kurt J. Schneider

Sheriff Schneider is a third-generation public servant with grandparents working as police and firemen and parents working in public safety and public education. He is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with degrees in both Fire Science Engineering and Criminal Justice Technology - Law Enforcement. He has been a corrections officer, road patrol officer and a member of the K-9 and bomb teams. Sheriff Schneider was elected to be Sheriff of Ashland County in November of 2024.


CHIEF DEPUTY David blake

Chief Blake began his career with the Ashland County Sheriff's Office in January of 1978. While working as a part time dispatcher he attended the Wayne County Sheriff's Office Peace Officer Training Academy and graduated in 1980. Also in 1980, he began his career with Ohio Department Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC). Chief Blake attended various schools and trainings with both ODRC and the Sheriff's Office. He also obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.

In February of 2009, Chief Blake retired from the Ohio Department of Corrections as an Administrative Assistant/Investigator and began his full time/part time career at the Ashland County Sheriff's Office. He has worked several positions within the Sheriff's Office and in May 2014 , he was promoted to Captain, Jail Administrator. In April 2021, Chief Blake was promoted to Chief Deputy.
