Sheriff Tax Sale Information
All sales are held pursuant to O.R.C. §5721.19 and §5721.191.
Sheriff Sales are conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesdays (or at such other time and day as directed by the Sheriff) in the main lobby of the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office at 1205 East Main Street, Ashland, Ohio.
Sheriff Sales (Tax Sales)
This is a sale of real estate, house trailers, etc. for non-payment of taxes. Properties to be sold for taxes are offered twice. Any property not sold at the first scheduled sale date will be offered again in two weeks.
The property is sold for the amount of delinquent taxes, penalties, assessments and all costs associated with this action.
These properties are not appraised, and we do not have access to these properties for viewing. You are buying the property as is at the time of the sale. This is an open auction held in the lobby of the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office.
Terms of Sale:
The buyer is required to pay the total amount of the starting bid (total amount of taxes, costs etc.) with the balance due upon confirmation of the sale by the court.
Requirements for Third Party Purchasers: Driver’s License or State ID
Personal check or cashier’s check for starting bid amount.
This is a court action and may take several weeks and sometimes several months to complete.
The Buyers are given a sheriff’s deed after the court has confirmed the sale.
